A League All Stars vs Newcastle United

Girona meet Granada in the final round of La Liga fixtures on Friday and both sides already know their fate.

The hosts have secured their place in next season’s Champions League and will finish third regardless of the result, while Granada will drop into the second tier.

It can be tricky to predict how these dead-rubber fixtures will play out but my suspicion is Girona will want to put on a bit of a show for their fans after what has been the most successful season in their history by some distance.

Backing the Catalan club in the handicap markets is one option, but the value play here could be a home win and both teams to score.

Girona have won 14 of their 18 home games and have lost just twice, but they have gone four games without a clean sheet at the Municipal de Montilivi.

Granada have the worst road record in the league with no wins and 15 defeats in 18 games. They’ve only scored 14 goals on their travels.

But they have scored in two of their last three trips and in five of their last seven games, so it wouldn’t come as a surprise to see them register a consolation strike.

A 4-1 win for Girona is the correct score prediction as they have scored exactly four goals in two of their last three home fixtures – and at least three in eight of their last 11.
