KV Mechelen and Club Brugge meet in Belgium’s top tier on Friday night in what may be a closer affair than the odds suggest.
Mechelen are the clear underdogs but they are a tough side to break down. De Kakkers opened the new season with a 1-1 draw at Waregem and are unbeaten in their last seven competitive games.

They only lost one pre-season assignment and in the league have just two defeats in their last 13 stretching way back into the previous campaign.
Brugge may still be able to grind out a win as they have started the new term strongly, beating Union SG in the Super Cup before a 2-1 win over a decent Genk side, but the best option could be backing both teams to score.
Both teams have scored in both of Brugge’s games this term and in six of their last seven fixtures going back further.
Goals at both ends has also featured heavily in Mechelen’s games, landing in five of their last six. Both teams also scored in both league meetings last season.
Brugge are clearly the stronger side and their winning start to the season suggests they can grind out a win on Friday.
Brugge haven’t lost a domestic road game since February and they finished the previous campaign by winning five of their final six league trips.
