Leyton Orient vs Newport County

Leeds played a starring role in the most entertaining game of the Championship opening weekend as they let three points slip through their fingers in a 3-3 thriller against League One champions Portsmouth.

Daniel Farke’s side dominated in every aspect other than the scoreline, though, and they can get back on track with a win over Middlesbrough on Wednesday.

Farke is expected to make a handful of changes for this cup tie, including a first start for Joe Rothwell and a leading role for Joel Piroe after the striker started on the bench on Saturday, but the Whites have the strength in depth to extend their stay in the EFL Cup.

Lille finished fourth in Ligue 1 last season and were impressive in beating Fenerbahce last week, but they are not the best travellers, winning only five of their 17 road fixtures in the French tip-flight last term.

Bruno Genesio’s side may not know whether to stick or twist in this game, given they have a lead to protect, and they may come unstuck against a Fener side that have lost just once at home since November.

The omens are certainly not good for Lille, as in the three previous meetings between these two sides, including last week’s first leg, the away team is yet to win.
