Arteta will be aiming to end that wait for cup success this season, and they begin their Carabao Cup campaign with a visit to Ipswich Wednesday night.

The Gunners have navigated the early rounds of this competition well in recent seasons, using their squad depth to their advantage.

They saw off Port Vale and Brighton without conceding in the first two rounds last season, before eliminating Crystal Palace and Chelsea.

Arteta’s side have started this season looking much more composed than they did last term. They’ve retained their defensive strength, keeping a clean sheet in four of their last five victories.

However, they’re more proactive going forward, which takes some pressure off their backline.

Arteta was happy to use his biggest names in this competition last season, with Bukayo Saka and Gabriel making five appearances, while William Saliba made five starts.
